Diet To Help With Weight Loss

The glycemic index or GI describes this difference by ranking carbohydrates based on their effect on our blood sugar levels. Choosing low GI carbs - those that produce only small fluctuations within our
blood glucose and insulin levels - may be the secret to long-term health lowering your risk of heart disease and diabetes and it is the key to sustainable weight reduction.

When a low glycemic meal is consumed, blood sugar levels rises at a slower pace. This enables a slower release of the hormone insulin which will help control blood sugar.

Blood sugar levels don't fall as a result because with less insulin, fewer cells are absorbing glucose.

This produces a reduction of food cravings and low energy crashes.

A regular balance of hormones can also be the result of a low glycemic diet.

Some suggestions that will help you get started:

1. Eat Once every 3 to 4 Hours; 3 meals which include natural low glycemic gruits and vegetables, lean protein and good fats.

2. Two Snacks; fat(nuts) or protein could be eaten alone, always balance a carbohydrate having a protein or good fat(nuts, essential olive oil, avocado). This slows the blood sugar levels rise and helps prevent a sugar high-low;

3. Natual Foods are optimum;

4. Drink lots of water; some sources say 1/2 the body weight in ounces; it all depends on your health and environmental conditions for example heat; limit coffee to 2-3 cups; 1-2 servings dry dark wine; herbal teas.

5. Take supplements that support your particular needs; multi-vitamin/mineral, anti-oxidants and a weight loss accelerator to deal with those urges.

6. Should do this at least 6 days each week but you should allow yourself one free day to cope with those cravings; don't exaggerate it!

7. Thirty minutes of daily being active is an important part of the program; see you doctor to make sure that you are OK to begin a program; allow it to be fun, get a partner and get it done together, do what you enjoy and alter it up to keep it fresh.

Protein Foods to Eat for Hair Loss

Have you noticed more hair in the drain after you shower? Are you pulling out strands at a time when you comb or brush your hair? Whether you're experiencing natural hair loss, or a vitamin deficiency in your system, there are foods high in protein you can eat to help with hair loss.

Causes

The causes of hair loss vary. It is a normal cycle to lose hair daily as new hair grows. However, excessive loss can be the result of major surgery, malnourishment, aging, hormonal changes, childbirth, certain medicines or chemotherapy, diabetes, and so on.

Types of Food

Whole grains
Many whole grains – including brown rice and oats – are rich in b vitamins, including biotin (B7), which can help alleviate alopecia and brittle hair. Healthy whole grains such as raw oats are also a good source of silica, which can help reduce hair breakage, and zinc; an important hair mineral which, in its deficiency, can lead to hair loss. For healthy, strong hair, try to eat a variety of whole grains – opting for grains that are as close to their natural state as possible.

Nuts
Nuts are high in protein and zinc, and are great for promoting strong and slinky hair. Good nuts to add to your diet include walnuts, which are packed with omega-3 fatty acids and biotin, and Brazil nuts, which are high in selenium. Selenium is not only good for promoting a healthy skin and scalp, but the mineral can also help prevent hair loss.

Seeds
As with nuts all seeds are good for our health, yet different seed varieties also have their own individual properties for healthy hair. Sunflower seeds are a great source of biotin, pumpkin seeds are high in zinc, and flax seeds are a great vegetarian source of omega-3 oils, which can help promote a healthy, nourished scalp and head of hair.

Oily fish
If you’re longing for strong, shiny hair, try adding oily fish – such as salmon, trout and sardines to your regular diet. Oily fish are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for healthy skin and keeping your scalp in good condition. Not only that, oily fish is also loaded with protein, which is essential for hair growth and strength, and iron, which can alleviate hair loss.

Oysters and shellfish
While oysters may not make a regular appearance on most of our dinner tables, they are actually a great source of many essential hair nutrients. Oysters are not only the richest natural source of zinc, but they are also an excellent source of selenium, iron and protein.

Yogurt
Yogurt is rich in calcium – an essential mineral for healthy hair growth – and is also a great source of protein. One of the best things about yogurt, however, is that it can double up as a hair mask as well as a health food. For those suffering from an itchy scalp or dandruff, try applying some yogurt straight to your scalp and hair and massaging in.

Avocado
Avocados are packed with monounsaturated fats, fatty acids and vitamin E, all of which can help promote nourished, supple and strong hair. The healthy fruit is also surprisingly high in protein and rich in B vitamins. To keep hair smooth and shiny, make avocados a part of your hair care routine as well as your regular diet by mashing one up and applying directly to your hair as a moisturising, nourishing treatment.

Eggs
For those suffering from lackluster locks or hair loss, eggs may provide the perfect solution. Eggs are an excellent source of protein, which is essential for hair growth, as well as being rich in biotin. Eggs are also a good source of vitamin B12; a lack of which can lead to pernicious anaemia and hair loss. As with the above foods, eggs are also good as an external treatment for hair.

How to Use Rosewater

Rosewater is a fragrant solution extracted from rose petals. Middle Eastern grocers, natural foods retailers and perfume shops sell distilled rosewater, and you can make it yourself. Its aroma is slightly less powerful than rose essential oil---rose otto. This natural perfume finds a home as an ingredient for toilet splashes along
with skin and hair preparations. Since rosewater is edible, cooks have also created recipes that took advantage of the sweet signature that rosewater adds to food and beverages.

1. Create an aromatic facial toner, by combining 1 1/4 cups of rosewater, eight drops of glycerin and 3/4 cup of witch hazel in a dark glass bottle. Shake the bottle well before use, and apply daily with soft cotton. Rosewater toner is perfect to combat acne, tighten pores and prevent wrinkles.

2.Make a gentle facial cleanser by mixing one cup of rose water, two teaspoons of glycerin and 10 drops of rose essential oil. Rose is a natural astringent with anti-inflammatory properties, meaning it will gently cleanse your skin while helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The essential oil will not only add to the cleansing properties of this rosewater cleanser, it will also help to preserve it.

3. Add five drops of jasmine to a quarter cup of rosewater for a light and refreshing perfume. Store your perfume in a dark glass bottle with a tight-fitting lid and enjoy daily.

4. Place pure rosewater in a spray bottle for an aromatic spritzer. Rosewater spritzer not only feels great on warm skin, it can soothe a sunburn and gently disinfect the skin, preventing infection and irritation. Rosewater spritzer can also be used as an air-freshener and disinfectant in bathrooms, on animal beds and for carpets.

5. Replace water with rosewater in your homemade cream and lotion recipes. Rosewater helps to balance the pH of the skin, helping to control both dry and oily skin and can soothe many types of dermatitis.

Many uses, if you are thinking of preparing it at home, you can do so quite easily. Take some rose petals and water in a sun tea jar and keep it under the sun for some days. Thus, you can get homemade rosewater with this simple method. However, the concoction thus prepared tends to get contaminated by bacteria and will not last for a long time.

What Not To Eat When Pregnant

If you are pregnant, the only thought that probably keeps creeping in your mind is the healthy development of your baby. You may add a fruit to your fortified breakfast cereal, extra veggies in your favorite dishes, and eat yogurt desserts so that your baby gets enough nutrition and is born healthy. Nevertheless, do you know
that there are certain foods that should be avoided during pregnancy? Deep Fried Foods
Deep fried foods like chips, fried chicken, fries, etc are packed with trans fats that increase bad cholesterol levels and decrease good cholesterol levels. In addition, these foods are also loaded with additives that are not good for the would-be-mom and her baby. Moreover, deep fried foods have excess salt content that may increase the blood pressure in pregnant women. It is therefore always good to stay away from deep fried foods during pregnancy.

Raw and Undercooked Eggs
Raw eggs are sources of salmonella which is a harmful motile enterobacteria that causes typhoid and food poisoning. So avoid eating raw or undercooked eggs like half boiled eggs. Raw eggs can be present in Caesar salad dressings, mayonnaise etc. All these food items should be therefore avoided as well.

Facial Skin Tightening Treatment

There are many methods of skin tightening utilized by dermatologists. In fact, there are also products you should use at home now that result in minimal skin tightening if you fail to seek the services of a doctor.

The treatments vary from lotions containing anti-oxidants and a number of vitamins and collagen producing boosters to invasive skin tightening procedures for example cosmetic surgery.

Skin tightening creams ought to be used throughout your lifetime. But sooner or later, whether you use them or not, age will meet up with your skin. Damage from exposure to the sun and natural aging produces a breakdown of collagen which is what gives the skin we have its soft and plump look. Because the amount of collagen is reduced, your skin begins to sag. At that point, you may want to seek one of the other ways of skin tightening treatment.

Obviously, the most radical method is plastic surgery. Fortunately for those wanting to avoid surgery, scientific study has been busy developing non-invasive way of skin tightening. For example, a well known method is botox injections which actually relax face muscles to decrease the appearance of wrinkles. There are many other kinds of derma fillers on the market also that are injected under the surface of the skin. Included in this are Sculptra, Lipodissolve and Fraxel Laser treatments.

Another one from the popular methods of non-surgical skin tightening uses radio waves to "remodel" the actual skin structure. This procedure is known as Thermage. Another skin tightening procedure called Titan uses infrared light to create similar results. Laser technologies are constantly being improved and adapted to ways of non-invasive skin treatments.

Of you are curious about seeking skin tightening treatment, it’s vital that you consult with your dermatologist first. There are lots of good lotion and cream items that you can use on the face and body. Because the body ages, skin will start noticeably sagging in many places apart from the face - the upper arms, thighs and abdomen position for example. When the specially designed topical treatments not work, there are many non-invasive procedures you can seek because the next step. Normally, surgery for example tummy tucks, facial lip suction and face lifts are thought last resort options by many women and men.

Conclusion for Skin Tightening Procedures

First of all you should use skin tightening skincare products:
  • lotions containing antioxidants
  • skin tightening creams
Or try popular non-surgical methods:

Derma Fillers:
  • Botox treatment
  • Sculptra
  • Lipodissolve
  • Fraxel laser
Other non-surgical procedures:

Thermage - uses radio waves
Titan - uses infrared light

And surgical methods:
  • Abdominoplasty
  • Liposunction
  • Face lift

Finding a Natural Skin Care Routine

Skincare products can be a major supply of toxins for many people. Most are full of chemicals and artificial things that might have a temporary positive impact on the skin, but will have negative long-term effects.

These artificial ingredients may also be absorbed in to skin and make up in the body.

The good news is there are natural, simple and inexpensive options that work well better than most commercial products with no harmful ingredients.

In general, natural oil cleansing method is an excellent solution for any skin type, although the combinations of oils varies according to skin type (see below). Begin to see the full tutorial here.

The very best combination of natural skin care options varies according to skin types:

Oily Skin
Switching to gentle and natural skincare options often goes quite a distance toward removing excess oil production, on the other hand, there are some natural ingredients that can help prevent breakouts and take away excess oil.

To Exfoliate: A mixture of equal parts sea salt and oil (like olive or almond) results in a natural scrub that will help remove impurities without stripping excess oils.

To Cleanse: Oil Skin cleansing is my go-to cleansing method for any type of skin. The full oil cleansing tutorial is here now, but in general, those with oily skin will require a higher amount of castor oil with regards to the other oils to keep skin from being too oily during transition. Generally, a half and half mixture of castor oil and olive oil or perhaps a 2/3 castor oil 1/3 olive oil mix appears to work best.

Moisturizing/Toning: Those with oily skin will require less moisturizing as skin adjusts, and frequently, the natural oils from oil cleansing are sufficient. If not, a very light layer of coconut oil works, or those who find that too oily, a diluted apple cider vinegar treatment toner helps keep oil away. A tablespoon of apple cider vinegar treatment in a cup of water kept in the fridge works great…

Natural Make-up options will also help tone down excess oil.

Normal/Combination Skin:
Always loved that term, because really.. what's “normal” skin anyway…

Those with skin that isn't typically oily or dry which responds well to different kinds of products and makeup usually adjust quickly to natural skin care options. Individuals with this type of skin also typically use a variety of different options and have good results.

My skin was more oily after younger and as transitioned to natural skincare options, it has become more “normal” so fundamental essentials options that use:

To Exfoliate: A homemade sugar scrub is an excellent natural exfoliator. Here are some of my personal favorite recipes.

To Cleanse: Oil Skin cleansing is a wonderful option for every type of skin, but is very balancing for normal/combination skin. Often a mix of about 1/4 castor oil and 3/4 of some other oil (olive, almond, etc) works great, however this can be adjusted to suit individual skin. This is actually the full tutorial on oil cleansing.

To Moisturize: Individuals with normal skin tend to prosper with most moisturizing options and frequently don’t need anything additional like a moisturizer. When needed, my favorite choices are natural lotion bars or perhaps a tiny bit of homemade lotion. A dab of coconut oil or shea butter alone often is effective for this skin type.

Natural Make-up options usually work wonderfully about this type skin as well.

Dried-out skin
Those with dry or aging skin often benefit immediately from natural skincare options. Often, using skin oils on the skin helps the skin to balance oil production and prevent being dry to begin with.

To Exfoliate: Often, exfoliating isn't needed for this skin type, but a light homemade sugar scrub could be a way to add natural oils and gently remove dead skin cells. Here are some of favorite recipes.

To Cleanse: Oil Cleansing truly is the greatest option for all skin types (for me) but it is great for dry skin because it doesn’t strip the natural oils whatsoever. As castor oil is the more drying oil in oil cleansing, usually merely a tiny amount is needed (in regards to a teaspoon of castor oil in 1/4 cup of some other oil like olive or almond).

To Moisturize: Homemade lotion bars, super-moisturizing homemade lotion, and whipped body butter are excellent moisturizing options for dried-out skin types. Plain organic shea butter is yet another simple and effective option.

Natural Anti-Aging
There's a ton of anti-aging products available however the best options are the ones you are taking internally. All of the collagen items that are supposed to firm up skin don’t remember that collagen must be produced internally and it is too large to absorb through the skin.

Post-Workout Beauty Tips for Hair and Skin

It’s tricky to squeeze a trip to the gym into a hectic schedule. It’s even trickier not to look like you’ve been at the gym. Here are our expert tips on the best ways to get back to beautiful in a rush post-workout.

You managed to squeeze in a quick trip to the gym on your lunch break or before evening commitments — good for you! Unfortunately, you only have a few minutes to get rid of the gym rat look and return yourself to the beauty you were when you walked in. No problem — these post-workout tips will get you back to beautiful — fast!

Pre-workout hair
If you’re not getting sweaty, you’re not doing it right! Get your hair up off of your face before your workout starts to prevent a sweaty mess when you’re done. Put it up in a ponytail or bun, and use elastic headbands to catch any strays.

About face!
One of the first things you should do after a good workout is wash your face. All that sweat does a body good, but it’s horrible for your skin and can lead to severe breakouts. Keep a packet of facial cleansing wipes — some don’t even require water for you ladies in a big rush — and use them within five minutes of the end of your workout session.

Minimal makeup
After you’ve washed all the gym crud away from your face, apply a tinted moisturizer to freshen up and add to your post-workout glow. You won’t need a lot of makeup, since your face will probably be flush from all that hard work. A neutral eyeshadow, mascara and tinted lip gloss is probably all you need to look ready to face the world.

Post-workout hair
No matter what you do to prevent it, your hair is going to get sweaty sometimes. If you don’t have the time (or desire) to wash your hair at the gym, we still have a few tricks up our sleeve to help you out.

Every gym rat keep a bottle of dry shampoo in her workout bag. “Dry shampoo is perfect for after a workout". "It soaks up all the oil, but there’s no water involved, so you don’t have to start your style from scratch."
